Baja Russia world rally cross country 2014



Today, on February 14 the grand opening of Baja "Russia - Northern Forest 2014", the first round of the World Cup and the Russian Championship in Cross-Country Rallies took place. 44 crews from 12 countries were included into the start list. 


An additional special prize, a Cup of the Governor of Leningrad Region, has been established for 6,5 km Super Special Stage winner. This award went to one of the most exotic participants of the winter Baja - an international crew N 9. Yazeed AlRajhi of Saudi Arabia and his co-driver Timo Gottschalk of Germany were very happy with their success and the prize, as they stated at the post-start press conference.

The second crew at SSS were Russians Alexander Zheludov and Oleg Tyupenkin, Finns Tapio Suominen and Jukka Tuomisto took the third position.

After an evening press conference, the top-ten drivers have chosen their starting positions for the next day. According to this choice, Miroslav Zapletal's Czech crew will open the second special stage on February 15 at 9:45. Two 102-kilometers laps will let the Russian drivers to demonstrate their skills and regain lost seconds. However, the strongest foreign crews are not going to give up without a fight in any case! This mid-February day promises to be hot - at least in terms of racing.
