The rider is now facing the challenge of finding an alternative to be at the starting line of the Dakar 2013.
Viladoms reached the second place in the Cross Country Rally FIM World Championship, and has been obligated to take the hard decision of leaving the Bordone-Ferrari Team “due to the uncertainty of the continuity of the project,” as he confesses while seeing his participation in the next Dakar in danger.
“It´s really sad and a very hard decision because with this team I´ve lived the best rally season. I thank Bordone-Ferrari for all the work done through the year, which had made possible to take a step further in my life as a rider,” explains Viladoms.
The great launching of BF was made with the outstanding results of its riders in the Dakar 2012 and through the FIM Cross Country Rally World Championship. Jordi achieved an excellent fourth place in the Dakar and won Sardinia Rally Race and closed the season with the second place in the FIM World Championship.
In spite of the results, the difficulties of the team have come out in a crucial moment, right at the timeof the Dakar preparation.
According to Viladoms, “We have been part of an important project, but at this moment stability and compromise are necessary to continue with my sports career. I truly hope that Bordone-Ferrari finds a solution that will allow them to keep on going.”
At this time of the year most teams are already defined and the most effective for a rider to find a good bike with the support of a sponsor. “I´m working to ensure my participation in the Dakar and to make it a very competitive race. I´m conscious that time is not on my side, and that the current situation makes it even harder to get sponsors, but I am positive and I hope that I to find a solution. I will fight for it.”
