They come in a duel in the Olympus Rally Raid. Mauritania is a place of enchantment to kneel seen samples of the rally lost among the sharp rocks and fine sand, hidden pitfalls. Nani Roma in 2002 in an attempt to recover Fabrizio Meoni loses navigation and surrenders in tears of fatigue to the world's toughest desert. That year Meoni wins his second Dakar.

THE FIRST LAPS IN MAURITANIA

After a good rest day, all competitors should be addressed to attack the second week in Mauritania. Indeed, after a link road that overlooks the ocean to the border between Morocco and Mauritania, the passage of the No Man's Land between the two countries, the vehicles will have a small connection to ten kilometers reach the start of the special. Again, the track is very nice at the beginning along the beach sand at will but with some passages of small white rocks not really nice. Then, the competitors having some small off-piste and very small camel grass. Navigation without relief is not always easy. The route includes parts fast with a beautiful sandy track to the finish. There will not be a small link of 40 km to reach the bivouac of Chami. The average high this special is expected to arrive before nightfall.

Meoni in the heart

I perfectly remember that day as if it happened yesterday.
Fabrizio Meoni ceases his life as a champion (km 184 of the 11th Atâr-Kiffa stage of the 27th Rally Barcelona - Dakar) Now, there is a structure built by his friends remember.   Coordinates 18 ° 59 '47.61 "N 13 ° 3' 58.24" W
