Prende il via la terza edizione del Merzouga Rally

L'australiano Ben Grabham domani aprirà la pista della prima speciale del Merzouga Rally davanti al portoghese Pedro Bianchi Prata e al Venezuelano Nicolas Alberto Cardona.

Merzouga Rally paddock La terza edizione del Merzouga Rally ha preso il via oggi dal centro del paese di Merzouga nel sud del Marocco. Il prologo è stato preceduto da un warm up di 24 km di dune per permettere ai piloti di familiarizzare con il roadbook e gli strumenti di navigazione. Il prologo non presentava particolari problemi di navigazione e si articolava su 14 km di pista veloce su terreno duro. Domani l’australiano Ben Grabham, 3 volte vincitore dell’Australasian Safari, aprirà la pista della prima prova speciale, lunga 171 km, davanti al portoghese Pedro Bianchi Prata e al venezuelano Nicolas Alberto Cardona. Il polacco Chkzor Jaceck e il venezuelano Rafael Anglase chiudono la top five. Il primo italiano è Claudio Ciarpaglini, settimo. Tra gli SSV l’equipaggio francese Garrouste –Damota partirà davanti a Henrichy - Costa e gli spagnoli Fidel-Sanchez.

Ben Grabham 40 Ben Grabham: “Sono contento d’essere qui. Ho scelto di correre il Merzouga Rally, il mio primo rally fuori dall’Australia, per prepararmi per la Dakar 2013. La mia priorità è fare esperienza e imparare il più possibile”.

Pedro Bianchi Prata 5 Pedro Bianchi Prata: “Oggi sono state due tappe brevi, ma è stato bene ritrovare il feeling con le dune e la navigazione. Domani partirò per secondo, anche se è più difficile sono contento di poter aprire la pista. Punto a guadagnare tempo a vincere la speciale”

Nicolas Alberto Cardona 74 Nicolas Alberto Cadorna: “Siamo qui a Merzouga per ultimare la preparazione in vista della Dakar con i miei compagni Eraso Rafael Anglade e Gustavo Adolfo Querales con il Team Venezuela". 10 Glauco Ciarpaglini: “Mi sono divertito molto sulle dune nel warm up, peccato che non c’erano nel prologo, ma credo che in questi giorni non mancheranno”.

The third edition of Merzouga Rally kicked off today from the center of the village of Merzouga in southern Morocco. The prologue was preceded by a warm-up 24 km of dunes to allow pilots to familiarize themselves with the roadbook and navigation instruments.The prologue did not have any particular problems of navigation and consisted of 14 km of fast track on hard ground.
